Kirk Douglas Theatre: THE NETHER

I enjoyed seeing the world premiere of Jennifer Haley’s “The Nether” at the Kirk Douglas Theatre. It is a rare production born entirely of LA. LA Weekly’s Zachary Pincus-Roth wrote a fantastic review of the show. And while I don’t disagree that the play may fall a bit short in terms of the emotional ride, it’s an original, inventive, thought-provoking play that deals with topical issues of technology and the role of online and virtual experiences in our lives. Even if you might call it simply “a play of ideas,” it is a play of very interesting and relevant ideas that I would highly recommend. Additionally, the acting and production design were impressive, always a plus.

An interactive exhibit in the lobby of the Kirk Douglas asking audience members to share a secret that “nobody knows.”
